Who Should Take This Course
This course is for anyworker who may be exposed to Asbestos in the workplace.
Asbestos is a naturally occurring material that was used widely by the construction industry for many years. It’s ability to resist high temperatures and resistance to chemicals made it the material of choice.
But as we know now, Asbestos can also cause the following diseases: Asbestosis, Lung Cancer and Mesothelioma. It could take decades for diseases to develop after initial exposure, the result being Asbestos related diseases are the number one cause of work-related death for people who have worked in construction in Ontario.
Course Description
This Asbestos Awareness course has been developed to meet and exceed both Federal and Provincial standards. It will guide you through all hazards associated with Asbestos exposure from how to protect yourself to safe work practices; as well as provide in-depth information on how to work safely around materials containing asbestos.
A test for each applicant will be given at the end of the course. All participants who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.

- Type 1 presenting little hazard to workers or bystanders
- Type 2 creating exposure exceeding acceptable limits
- Type 3, not included in this course, covers major exposures that exceed acceptable limits posing serious risks to workers and bystanders.
- Asbestos health risks
- Regulations and exposure limits related to Asbestos.
- Asbestos safe work practices.
